Got mismatched foundation?

THis blog is dedicated to all things that are too girly for my personal blog. No one reads this anyway so anything goes! Today I'm sharing to the universe one tip I've been reading a lot about but only recently did I try to do it- mix your own tinted moisturizer!

So why the hell did I make my own tinted moisturizer? First, I've been paranoid about not wearing enough sunscreen but I have wearing the the SP30 cream we get from our derma coz it's sticky. And I hate piling layers of cream on my face. My mom says it's not sticky at all but I guess it's a matter of standards. Second, my lola (grandmother) gave me two different liquid foundations lat summer. I have a feeling it's hers but she left it with me so she can buy a new bottle when she gets back to Florida. haha

In addition, mixing your own tinted moisturizer gives you 3R's and more! Reduce your spendings (use what you already have), reuse old cream jars or pumps and recycle your mismatched foundation. Plus, chances are you get the right shade for yourself and you get to wear the sunscreen without having to spend so much time applying all the creams you need.

What you need:
Cream jar (you may wash your old cream jar or the jar of the mineral makeup you've consumed. You may also buy those tiny, travel size jars)
toothpick or any small thing that can mix your creams (make sure it's clean)
Moisturizer
sunblock
(mismatched) liquid foundation
I used Olay total effects moisturizer, sunblock from my derma and the Clinique Even Better liquid foundation. Just a few notes. Using your existing creams ensures that they suit your skin. And I used sunblock because it starts working the minute you apply it to your skin as opposed to sunscreen where you'd need 15-30 minutes prior to going out in the sun for it to take effect. But it's really a matter of preference and availability.

Combine the sunblock and moisturizer first before mixing foundation. This is because it'll be easier to adjust the color of the tinted moisturizer by adding foundation gradually. Find a 'benchmark' for your color (like your perfectly matched foundation or mineral powder foundation) so you know when if you need to adjust the color. Test the color on your face. Adjust color until it's a perfect match.

What you want to get is a moisturizer that evens your skin without weighing it down. Do not expect the coverage of a usual foundation because this is obviously lighter. I only use my tinted moisturizer if I'm leaving the house. In that case my routine would be eye cream- tinted moisturizer-mineral foundation (for added coverage). But if I'm staying home, I stick to eye cream and Olay.

That's about it. Good luck and enjoy mixing your tinted moisturizer! :)

DINAGYANG 2010

Here are some of my best shots from the highlight of Dinagyang last Sunday, January 23. Went home with tan lines from my shirt and camera strap. Even if only a little over 15% of my shots made it to my 'best shots', okay lang because I looove the colors! I'm pretty satisfied naman. hehe

To see the rest of the 15%, visit my flickr site here.

Take part in Iloilo City's Dinagyang festival next year! YAY! :)

Bicol Express!

Dad and I drove to Bicol to spend the ultra long weekend of November. We had to stay in Naga to let the typhoon pass. Anyway, Here are a few of my shots from that trip.

The first thing Dad did was to visit the church.
And it's funny coz today he was telling us he used to 'cliff-hang' on the outer walls of the church when he was a kid.

My Tito Jeff, Dad's kuya is a priest.
He officiated a mass at the Garcia Mausoleum in Barcelona like he does every year. The mausoleum is a few streets away from the Barcelona church.

I took this photo while we were in transit from San Benon Hot Springs on our way home. I love how the jeep adds color to the photo.

The next day we drove back to Naga City for work. We had lunch at Bigg's Diner, probably the most popular fast food chain in Naga.

Baby back ribs is just too irresistible! At Php172 for this meal, super sulit!

For dessert I had a rich hot chocolate.

The next day I had my breakfast at Bigg's (can't get enough) haha This tapa is super tender and tasty! love love love!

Dad and I heard mass the night before we were set to drive back to Manila.

P.S.
I don't have any photos of Mayon because it was covered in clouds.
